Spring is slowly making its approach here in CNY and we are starting to see the signs. Tulips are poking through the soil, seeds are arriving to plant, birds are making new homes.

I thought over the next week or so, I’d share our story. You see, if I lay it all out here now you may get bored and we don’t want that, plus you will have to keep checking for our next post to arrive if you really want to get to know us and what we are about!!!

To back up a minute, my husband and I started this small farm about 10 years ago because we loved the holiday season so much and we had extra land to utilize. We thought selling Christmas trees would be a perfect way to enjoy the holiday and become part of many families traditions that we enjoyed so much. We planted our first 250 seedlings and planned to “open” in about 10 years to friends and family with the intention to keep growing. With the idea started, we tried to think of ways to get people here while we waited on those trees to grow.

My aunt had given us a packet of sunflower seeds so we threw those in the ground and didn’t think about them again. The season went on, the sunflowers grew. We didn’t know it at the time (as most never do), this little seed packet was the start of something…that summer we launched our very first farm stand. We got a cart from our neighbor and set up a little farm stand. As you will see from the photo, to say it was a farm stand is a stretch lol, but all things need a beginning and this was ours.

We don’t actually know who stopped and bought the first flower…maybe it was YOU? but we do thank anyone who stopped and gave our little farm stand a chance that summer.

We keep a photo in a frame with the first $1.25 we ever made. Not sure why it was $1.25 exactly but that’s what we made on our first sale.

Oh and before you leave, please share our story-we LOVE making new friends.

To be continued…
